Expanding Dar al-Islam into Russia

As if Putin doesn't have enough problems, the Islamists are now pushing to take over more Russian territory. Russia has a problem. Not enough non-Muslims to populate the vast Russian territory, so the southern territories, specifically the Caucasus, are being devoured by Islamists. If Putin can't kill the leaders and most of the Islamists driving this land grad, the Caucasus territories will be lost. Dar Al-Islam grows, and Dar al-Harb shrinks.

Qur’an (21:44) Do they see Us advancing, gradually reducing the land (in their control), curtailing its borders on all sides? It is they who will be overcome.

Rebels Launch Attacks in Southern Russia

NALCHIK, Russia Oct 13, 2005 — Scores of Islamic militants launched simultaneous attacks on police and government buildings in this city in Russia's turbulent Caucasus region Thursday, sparking battles that killed at least 49 people.

Chechen rebels claimed responsibility for the attacks, which forced the evacuation of schools and left corpses littering the streets of Nalchik, the capital of the republic of Kabardino-Balkariya.

The Chechen rebels' decade-long struggle against Russia, originally a separatist movement, has melded increasingly with Islamic extremism in the past decade and spread far beyond Chechnya's borders to encompass the whole turbulent Russian Caucasus region.

Excellent post
I think it's a mistake to compare Islam to any of the other world religions. It is more totalitarian than communism or fascism ever was. To the Communist, above all else was to be loyal to the state. Fascism required a dynamic leader to maintain control. Islam is something else altogether. Islam replaces the state and the dynamic leader with God. Not only is it a religion, but it is a complete political and social system. Just a question Islam is considered an apostasy.
From Moroccan scholar Sheikh Abdul Bari Az-Zamzamy: "apostasy causes a total disruption and confusion in the Muslim community, and thus, a severe punishment was set for it to deter anyone from thinking of it." He then adds "Even though his crime is so great, he is given a last chance, a respite of three days in which to repent. If he repents, he will be left alone; if he does not repent, then he will be killed". Pretty hard to argue with God if you're Muslim.
I hate to say this but it all honesty I think I would rather have lived under communism than live in an Islamic state.

I am surpised by the lack of outrage, and the dearth of comment, over this attack in Russia. This was a highly organized attack by a very large group of Jihadis, more akin to an army than a terrorist cell.

I believe this attack shows that the Jihadis are becoming even more bold in the face of the world's lethargy. The world really ought to be either very angry, or very frightened. But instead, AP tells us "separatists" launched a "rebel" attack in Russia. CNN doesn't even believe the attack belongs on the front page of their news website. Even LGF has barely said anything about it.

What the f...?

I hadn't even seen the news about it till I dropped in here. Good tip.

Also, I picked up on and commented on the previous post you all put out.

If not for you I'd probably know nothing.

Hey, what's for dinner tonight?

At least the good guys seem to have won this one. Knowledgeable reports indicate that the defenders were ready and thus the attackers lost the critical element of surprise. The Russian cops and soldiers seem like they finally had their shit together after years of knocking heads with the Global Jihad in the region. Of the 100 jihadists in the assault, 60 to 70 were estimated to have been killed, with most of the remainder captured. Ivan took far less casualties. So for the Chechens, this brave 'offensive' seems to not only have been a failure, but a spectacular failure.

The usual lack of proper coverage in the media of this event--the removal of all jihadists overtones of the attack in the mainstream media's accounts--is, sadly, business as usual. Inexcusable and shameful as ever, but no surprise.

Bottom line, what has happened in Southern Russia this week is yet another battlefield defeat for the mujahadeen, no matter how you slice it, and that is always a welcome event. As long as Jihadists are willing to stand in line for the meat grinder, I say "Bring 'em on."

Armenia is the first nation, as it were, to convert to Christianity. For no good reason, I have some kind of affinity with them because of that. Too many years of Sunday School, too many Christmas dinners, too many trips down the aisle to forget that at heart I'm a lapsed Christian myself, not a lapsed Budhist or a non-practicing Taoist or a past Hindu. Somewhere, and no very far away, I'm still attached to my own upbringing, and therefore to that of my fellows in the Caucasus. When I see Georgians waving a flag with a Cross, I relate at some primitive level in a way that I do not when I see a Chechnian jump onto the flat bed of a truck to draw a pistol and casually shoot in the head Russian soldiers stacked up like logs. He, by the way, was as ordinary-looking a guy as one would find anywhere in Europe--sans beard. And all of it on video tape, a necessary part of the "job" because the tape went to Saudi Arabia as proof of the body count, proof being required before the Sauds would cough up the bounty.

I can't relate to a man who looks not significantly different from me when I see him shooting Russians, Christians who could be me or mine.

Mine, though not from that part of Europe, are still related to Russians in some tenuous sense, and mostly by religious roots that we don't feel very strongly about on the surface. But in fact, I have more feelings for Indonesian Christians than I do for Chechnian Muslims. It's not the race, it's the religion, the shared root of emotion in the face of aliens with customs too different from my own. A Cross is a Cross, regardless of the man. A White Muslim killing an Oriental Christian puts me automatically on the side of the Christian. And to see Caucasians being murdered in cold blood by Muslims who look like me isn't any help at all. I'd volunteer to defend Martian Christians because of my past beliefs.

Yes, Russians are a whole different kind of people from Westerners. Yes Caucasian Christians are different from my Protestant version of Christianity. But when the push comes to the shove, I'm behind the old gang no matter.
