Happy Deepavali

Pedestrian Infidel would like to wish our Hindu readers a joyous and safe Deepavali ("Divali') holiday, the Hindu Festival of Lights. The lights of fireworks, lamps or other lights that are usually lit for this festive occasion are meant to signify the ultimate triumph of good over evil, which in these trying times is exactly the sort of message we should be focusing on.
This holiday is virtually unknown in the west or by non-Hindus, which is a shame. We infidels should be aware of each others' holidays.

A.J. in the UK Diwali is growingly celebrated, and occurs close to "Firework Night" Nov 5th. and Christmas, both frestivals aslready bring light and colour into the drab real world, and we can only welcome yet more light and colour.
In ancient times throughout Celtic Europe, and Britain, festivals of fire punctuated the year and remains of these old sites and practices can be found.
Hindus in Britain are a wealthy and industrious contribution to life here, and rarely do they cause any issues. Similarly the Sikh people.
Good luck to all the Gurkhas serving with British forces in Afghanistan, as they bravely take on the Taliban.

I didn't know there were many Hindu readers of WarOnT blogs. I thought I was one among the few.

Thank you for the wishes. :-)

I think we ought to add that to our list of National Holidays here in the U.S. We need more fireworks.
