Bush visits Gulf with peace plan
The emir of Kuwait said he was "delighted" to see Mr Bush
US President George W Bush has arrived in Kuwait as part of a tour of Gulf states that is likely to focus on Mid-East peace and containing Iran.
After rounding off his first trip as president to Israel and the West Bank, he arrived in Kuwait City for talks with the Emir, Sheikh Sabah.
He will also address some of the 15,000 US soldiers based in Kuwait, and meet the commander of the US forces in Iraq.
He will continue to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
His aim is to encourage them to back Mahmoud Abbas as the Palestinian president negotiates with the Israelis.
This is phase two of what many regard as Mission Impossible, the BBC's Matthew Price reports from Kuwait City.
There's a good chance for peace and I want to help you
