Peter Taylor: Algeria and the Rise of Islamist Extremism

BBC: Watch seven-year-old Abdelkahar Belhadj address a political rally

BBC: One of the most remarkable archive sequences we came across while researching the Age of Terror programme, features a seven-year-old Algerian boy called Abdelkahar Belhadj. He is seen addressing a political rally of thousands in 1991 with all the confidence and fire of a mature adult.

"There are a billion Muslims and we don't have a state that rules by God's Holy Law. Isn't that a dishonour and a shame on us?" he proclaims in the voice of a child.

He is cheered ecstatically and lifted on high. It was revelatory to hear the philosophy of jihad - the struggle to overthrow infidel regimes and replace them with Islamic states under Sharia law - emerging from the lips of one so young.

In 2007, 16 years later, we watched another clip, a propaganda video announcing the launch of al-Qaeda in North Africa featuring non other than Abdelkahar Belhadj, now a fully-fledged jihadi.

When I first saw the clip of the young Belhadj, I was instantly reminded of an interview I'd done in an IRA stronghold in Belfast in the mid-seventies with a little boy called Sean. I vividly remember he had the initials IRA inked on the back of his hand.

Sean told me he wanted to fight and die for Ireland. Years later I met him again, this time on an IRA wing inside the Maze prison. He had gone to jail after fighting for the cause he had embraced all those years ago.

Sean and Abdelkahar Belhadj illuminate the bigger picture of the Age of Terror: how the "cause", be it Islamist or Republican, Basque or Palestinian, flows from one generation to the next and on through the veins of history. Religion of Peace and Tolerance strikes again in Indonesia

In a recent small blurb that survived for a few hours on CNN's main page was a story about the destruction of a mosque in Indonesia at the hands of a rampaging mob. Now, who could be behind this dastardly act? Christians or Buddhists?

Why of course not. It was a shrieking crowd of Muslims, chanting 'burn burn' and 'kill kill'. The target of their right proper Islamic fury was a Ahmadiyah mosque, whom the majority Sunnis (i.e. most Indonesians) consider to be heretics. As of now, the 'heretic' mosque is in ashes and its followers fled, or in hiding. The Ahmadiyah Muslims are among the most persecuted of all in Dar al Islam because they do not consider Mohammed the Pedophile to be the 'last messenger' and also don't quite agree with the whole 'kill the infidel' message that all other sects of Islam adhere to.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) -- Hundreds of people burned a mosque Monday in the West Java province of Indonesia, police said.

Around 300 people attacked the Al Furqon mosque about 1 a.m., damaging a nearby school, police said. The mosque belonged to the Ahmadiyah sect considered heretical by many in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation.

The attack happened after negotiations to remove a sign with the name of the sect, police said, and comes a week after religious scholars, government officials and prosecutors recommended the sect be outlawed for "deviating from Islamic principles," The Associated Press reported.

Chanting 'burn burn' and 'kill kill', along with sundry acts like arson, destruction of property and attempted murder, of course are in line with Islamic principles. But don't expect The Associated Press or CNN to tell you this.

Many sect members had fled the area prior to the attack, AP said.

"We heard the attackers chanting 'burn, burn' and 'kill, kill,"' a sect member, Zaki Firdaus, told AP. "It was horrifying."

Islam in action is usually a horrifying thing, indeed.

Firdaus said around 200 sect members had escaped the mosque before the attack. A sect spokesman, Syamsir Ali, told AP that efforts to ban Ahmadiyah beliefs had prompted an escalation of violence again adherents.

You think? Actually, having followers of the Pedophile in any given area is usually a sure-fire guarantee of an 'escalation of violence', sooner or later.

The Emasculation of the British Military

Two world wars and the loss of its empire may have weakened Great Britain, and by extension, its military establishment. But decades of leftist thinking, socialist policies, and multicultural indoctrination have finished off whatever fighting prowess the British once had.

I am not questioning the individual British soldier's will to fight, or ability for that matter. What I am calling in to question is the UK's overall bureaucratic direction, from both the higher echelons of the British forces, as well as their civilian government. A British sailor or soldier can't truly fight if they are directed not to by higher headquarters, or lack the equipment to do so effectively. The questionable leadership has turned the once mighty British military into a laughingstock. Consider the following:

-While the French (of all people) are using commandos and firepower to fight back against a resurgence of (Islamic) piracy at sea, and send captured pirates back to Paris for prosecution, the Brits have instructed their people not to detain Muslim pirates. This is so as to not 'violate their human rights'. A fiction writer would never dare try selling a story like this, but the Brits have actually issued politically-correct orders like these to the few Royal Navy units that can still go to sea.

-Last year, a Royal Navy unit surrendered meekly to Iranian speedboats that infamously incurred into Iraqi waters, giving the mullahs a cheap yet effective propaganda coup over their enemies. The Brits got humiliated in front of a global audience, and that little monkey of a president in Tehran got to look magnanimous by releasing the captive 'war criminals' without a show trial.

-The Brits are running short on all things needed to make a military work, from bullets to spare parts to tongue depressors, thanks to years and years of budget cutting, combined with a remorseless tempo of simultaneous operations in two different combat zones (Iraq and Afghanistan).

It's all part and parcel of a leftie British strategy (unconscious or otherwise) to dhimmify, starve and wither the mighty establishment that spawned greats like Churchill, Nelson and Cromwell. Those worthies must be turning over in their graves by now.

So what's the upshot of all this? Why should anyone on the western side of the Atlantic care? The reasons we should care are simple. If America is serious about fighting 'terror' or the real enemy (Jihadists and Islam) anytime soon, they will have one less ally they can count on when the going gets tough.

'Makkah Mean Time' Should Replace 'Greenwich Mean Time', Say Muslim Scientists and Clerics!

Photo of the Ka’aba in Makkah (Mecca) courtesy of Google Images

BBC: Muslim scientists and clerics have called for the adoption of Mecca time to replace GMT, arguing that the Saudi city is the true centre of the Earth.

Mecca is the direction all Muslims face when they perform their daily prayers.

The call was issued at a conference held in the Gulf state of Qatar under the title: Mecca, the Centre of the Earth, Theory and Practice.

One geologist argued that unlike other longitudes, Mecca's was in perfect alignment to magnetic north.

He said the English had imposed GMT on the rest of the world by force when Britain was a big colonial power, and it was about time that changed.

Mecca watch

A prominent cleric, Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawy, said modern science had at last provided evidence that Mecca was the true centre of the Earth; proof, he said, of the greatness of the Muslim "qibla" - the Arabic word for the direction Muslims turn to when they pray.

The meeting also reviewed what has been described as a Mecca watch, the brainchild of a French Muslim.

The watch is said to rotate anti-clockwise and is supposed to help Muslims determine the direction of Mecca from any point on Earth.

The meeting in Qatar is part of a popular trend in some Muslim societies of seeking to find Koranic precedents for modern science.

It is called "Ijaz al-Koran", which roughly translates as the "miraculous nature of the holy text".

The underlying belief is that scientific truths were also revealed in the Muslim holy book, and it is the work of scholars to unearth and publicise the textual evidence.

But the movement is not without its critics, who say that the notion that modern science was revealed in the Koran confuses spiritual truth, which is constant, and empirical truth, which depends on the state of science at any given point in time. [Source: Muslim Call to Adopt Mecca Time]

2008-- Another year of Chinese malfeasance

Much hay has been made of late regarding the upcoming Beijing Olympics, China's abysmal human rights record, and the political reaction to the 2008 International Olympic Torch Run. Yes, many assorted malcontents, professional protesters, agitators, and at least one possible plant made a swipe at the torch in recent days.

The upshot is that China wants to be treated, and viewed, as a respectable and important member of the international community. For the ChiComms, this is what the 2008 Games are all about-- a sort of grand 'coming out' party.

However, the PRC is being repeatedly caught selling guns and doing business with some very unsavory people. It's not just one or two 'isolated' incidents. It's the unswerving behavior of a totalitarian regime who seems very disinterested in peace, and much more interested in making money, enriching its own cronies, and propping up friendly dictatorships around the world. And no, I'm not talking about what China is doing in Tibet.

Here is the list of shame:

1. Chinese arms company NORINCO (owned by the Chinese military) was recently revealed to have been trying to sell half a million AK47s and 10 million rounds of ammo to Libya, via middlemen in the Italian mafia. The AK47 is an elderly weapon (60+ years old), and even the Libyans wouldn't use it to equip their armed forces nowadays. And 500,000 guns would way oversupply the Libyan military, which is only 100,000. The likely end customers? Various revolutionary groups (i.e. terrorists) in Africa and around the world. In other words, Gaddafi is up to his usual mischief and China is all too willing to oblige him, for the right price of course.

2. New Chinese bomber aircraft are showing up in Sudan, no doubt violating one toothless UN resolution or another. Improved bombers will allow the Khartoum regime to better kill their own people in Darfur and elsewhere in the country. China doesn't care, as long as they are paid and the oil keeps flowing.

3. Last week a Chinese merchant vessel full of weapons for the detestable regime of Robert Mugabe in (landlocked) Zimbabwe showed up in Durban, South Africa for unloading. The contents of the Chinese shipment include, according to the Guardian (UK):

... 3.5m rounds of ammunition for AK47 assault rifles and for small arms, 1,500 40mm rockets, 2,500 mortar shells of 60mm and 81mm calibre, as well as 93 cases of mortar tubes

These supplies will naturally allow Mugabe's thugs to better brutalize and terrorize his own people, who are languishing under nearly 30 years of Mugabe's tyranny. Mugabe's continued rule is at least in part underwritten by his backers in Beijing. The dockworkers in Durban, to their credit, refused to handle or offload the cargo.

The Chinese ship is now reportedly en route to Mozambique, the country with an AK47 on their flag, and where the dockworkers will presumably be more cooperative.

4. China's covert cyber war against the entire planet (with the possible exception of Russia) continues. Late last week, hackers traced back to China took down the CNN website here in east Asia for several hours. Apparently, CNN coverage of the anti China protesters surrounding the aforementioned Torch Run have angered the government-sanctioned hackers in the Middle Kingdom.

The bottom line is that these events are part of a larger trend. How can the current regime in power in Beijing ever be treated as a 'respected' part of the international community, when they act as such? The Games should have never been awarded to Red China in the first place.

Where guns and religion do mix

As America's interminable presidential campaign continues, the darling of the left, Obama, is taking some heat as of late for his recent "guns and religion" comments.

For those who aren't aware of it, Obama recently stated that certain 'embittered people' cling to "guns and religion" to compensate for undisclosed failings.

Does anyone think that Obama was talking about certain people, like the one in this photo, who really do cling to 'guns and religion'?

I rather doubt it. After all, Obama, the uberdhimmi, has proven that he is only going to talk about Islam itself in a positive light.

Islam certainly rejects all manner of infidel technologies, but never guns. Those are quite welcome by the Islamic scholars and theocrats. Muslims seem to have quite the passion for firearms, don't you think?

For Obama's crowd, and no doubt in Obama's omnipotent opinion, guns (and religion too) are only bad when in the hands of Americans. Especially Christian or conservative Americans.

Brigitte Bardot on Trial In France For Insulting Islam

Brigitte Bardot is an elderly woman now but she still has fight left in her. The French prosecutor is again dragging Ms. Bardot to court for insulting Islam. I am not sure what Ms. Bardot must be thinking. It's her fourth time in court for trashing Islam and the kufar prosecutor Anne de Fontette is '...a little tired of prosecuting Mrs Bardot.' Maybe some jailtime will do the kufar some good, eh, Anne? Teach that kufar bitch some dhimmi manners! Her country's government is her enemy, aiding and defending the enemy of the French. It reflects how Europe is down on its knees begging Islam to be nice. And if any kuffar says anything bad, they will be punished postively and absolutely. But, it won't make any difference. Throw Ms. Bardot to the crocs. They're still going to eat you in time. To Islam, that is weakness to be preyed upon. Funny how the government just can't get that. She didn't call them apes and pigs as the imams call the infidels every Friday. That's different! No, she criticized the slaughtering of animals by Muslims for one of their holiday slaughterdays, and the islamization of France. Big taboo in France. You aren't supposed to notice!

1 of 1Full SizePARIS (Reuters) - French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial on Tuesday for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she has faced the charge of "inciting racial hatred" over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers.

Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros (12,071 pounds) for saying the Muslim community was "destroying our country and imposing its acts".

Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.

She has been fined four times for inciting racial hatred since 1997, at first 1,500 euros and most recently 5,000.

Prosecutor Anne de Fontette told the court she was seeking a tougher sentence than usual, adding: "I am a little tired of prosecuting Mrs Bardot."

Bardot did not attend the trial because she said she was physically unable to. The verdict is expected in several weeks.

French anti-racist groups complained last year about comments Bardot made about the Muslim feast of Eid al-Adha in a letter to President Nicolas Sarkozy that was later published by her foundation.

Muslims traditionally mark Eid al-Adha by slaughtering a sheep or another animal to commemorate the prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son on God's orders.

France is home to 5 million Muslims, Europe's largest Muslim community, making up 8 percent of France's population.....

More On That Torchbearer In a Wheelchair Attacked by Anarchists

A few posts back I had posted a detailed photo of the attack on a torchbearer in a wheelchair on the torch's Paris run. Now we know more about her. And the Chinese are pissed. Wouldn't you be? Her name is Jin Jing and she is a fencer! more about her below.

China rages over attack on disabled torch bearer

By Emma Graham-Harrison Reuters - Friday, April 11 10:58 amBEIJING (Reuters) - A wheelchair-bound Chinese torch bearer has rocketed to national fame after fending off protesters in Paris, becoming a symbol of China's defiance of global demonstrations backing Tibet.

Jin Jing, a 27 year-old amputee and Paralympic fencer has been called the "angel in a wheelchair" and is being celebrated by television chat shows, newspapers and online musical videos after fiercely defending the Olympic torch during the Paris leg of the troubled international relay.

Protesters denouncing Chinese policy in Tibet threw themselves at Jin. Most were wrestled away by police but at least one reached her wheelchair and tried to wrench the torch away.

Jin clung tenaciously to what has become a controversial icon of the Beijing Olympic Games until her attacker was pulled off.

Her look of fierce determination as she shielded the torch, captured in snapshots of the scene, has now spread throughout China, inflaming simmering public anger at the protests.

"I thought we had lost in France, but seeing the young disabled torch bearer Jin Jing's radiant smile of conviction, I know in France we did not lose, we won!" said one of tens of thousands of Internet postings about the incident.

Chinese people are generally enthusiastic about hosting the Olympics and many have backed the government's claims that recent riots and protests in Tibet were the work of the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader, seeking to upset the Games. The Dalai Lama has repeatedly rejected that claim.

Jin, cheerful and photogenic, has emerged to embody nationalist indignation at Western criticisms and protests.

"I still feel very angry now, and I think the man was very irrational," she told Reuters in an interview.

"Hosting the Olympics is such a good thing for our country, so why do they want to ruin it?"

She lost part of her right leg when she was nine after developing a tumour in her ankle, but went on to become a member of the national wheelchair fencing team and won medals in regional games in 2002, the official Xinhua news agency said.

The attack also angered Olympic chief Jacques Rogge, who said any attempt to take the torch from the athletes carrying it was destroying a dream, but Jin's injury made it even worse.

"What shocked me most is when someone tried to rob the torch off a wheelchair athlete, a disabled athlete who was unable to defend the torch. This is unacceptable," the International Olympic Committee president said on Thursday.

In China the attack has become a lightning rod for anger about the chaotic protests that have beset the torch relay from London and Paris to San Francisco.

Some bloggers called for boycotts of French goods and on one Web site a Chinese student posted pictures of the protester who got closest to Jin.

"Remember him...he'll die a terrible death," said a message attached to the pictures. Below was a stream of similar posts from visitors to the site. "This is not a person," one said.

Jin took a more balanced approach to her attacker.

"We should give him some moral education," she said, adding that there was no need to stop buying French goods.

"We can handle it more rationally, most French people are very friendly," she said.

Chinese Internet comments have also attacked Western media coverage of unrest in Tibet as biased towards pro-independence groups and have said that news reports on the torch relay ignored cheering Chinese and foreign spectators to focus on protests.

A video posted on YouTube carried a montage of photos of enthusiastic spectators and flag-waving Chinese patriots waiting for the torch, to the sound-track of a home-recorded rap called: "Our flag should not be forgotten by the world".

Revised FITNA at LiveLeak

On April 6th, Geert posted to Liveleak the revised Fitna movie. This movie changes the opening and closing cartoon. This is Mo with the world as a bomb on his shoulders, fuse lit. The other change is the replacement of the pic of the murderer of Theo Van Gogh. Originally Fitna had a Muslim rapper photo who intentionally used a photo of himself on his album that was made to look like the criminal photo of Van Gogh's murderer. They both look a lot alike, remarkably so. Of course, he threatened to sue Geert so Geert replaced his photo with a photo of the actual killer. These are trivial changes and it is likely the original will remain in circulation forever.

The Left Never Regrets Ever!

The 'Free Tibet' mobs are really anarchists. Check out this photo from the BBC photo log of the left's disruption of the torch journey through Paris. It was put out 3 times, maybe more. In this scene a 'free tibet' enthusiast attacks an amputee in a wheelchair!!! who was carrying the torch on part of the leg through Paris. In the left's mind, she is irrelevant for the greater goal. Sounds like Muslims who blow up people and if any Muslims die with the infidels, they are 'martyred.' I do not know who this is or her story, but I feel very sad for her. In the life of someone who has so many obstacles, a great memory destroyed by these creeps. Very distubing.

Silencing the People

IT IS axiomatic that freedom of expression is the foundation of human freedom and progress. When people are not allowed to express themselves freely, there can be no debate or inquiry. It is only due to free debate and inquiry that humanity has progressed from the Dark Age to the Digital Age. This is why the first act of every would-be tyrant is to take control of the marketplace of ideas. - Caroline Glick, The Jerusalem Post

It has recently been reported that Susan Winter, a politician (Stadträtin) in Graz, Austria has been indicted for "Incitement and Degradation of Religious Symbols". If found guilty, she faces up to two years in an Austrian jail! Why? Because she had the temerity to speak her mind, she had the chutzpah to speak the truth as she saw the truth to be. After all, she believed, rightly in my opinion, that she lived in a European country which upheld the right of free speech. Not so, it seems.

She stated that the prophet Muhammad was a Kinderschänder, child molester, or paedophile. She also stated that Muhammad was a warlord. There were videos of her speech on YouTube, and even on my own website, but they all appear to have been removed! (God knows who removed them!)

That a person in Europe is now no longer able to express himself/herself freely, and with impunity, augers badly for our future here in Europe, for however repugnant a person’s ideas are, that person should be allowed to express them freely. As Caroline Glick stated (above): "It is axiomatic that freedom of expression is the foundation of human freedom and progress."

One thing that differentiates the world of the West with the Muslim world is this: Until now, we Westerners were allowed to express ourselves freely, without fear of reprisals from the law. The same cannot be said about people’s rights in Muslim nations. Is it, then, any wonder that the West has moved from the Dark Ages to the Digital Age, whereas the Muslim world has not? Whatever vestiges of the Digital Age the Muslim world enjoys can be attributed directly to the progress made by Westerners. For without Western civilization, Muslims would still be riding around on their camels, and would be living in tents.

One must therefore ask oneself one simple, but one very important, question: Is it the intention of European politicians to take western Europe back to the Dark Ages? Or are they just too yellow to speak up for Judeo-Christian civilization, the civilization which has brought the West so much in terms of human progress and development?

Do these weak, wimpish, excuses for politicians not realize that this wonderful civilization is not theirs to give away? Don’t they realize that we are merely custodians of this civilization?

Another recent example of the cowardliness of Western politicians is in their recent reaction to Geert Wilders’ wonderful, short film, Fitna. In that short little video, he managed to encapsulate all the dangers that Islam – yes Islam, not Islamism – poses to the till yet free, Western world.

Yet what has he got for his labours in return? Nothing but a blasting! European politicians, almost to a man, have denigrated this courageous Dutch politician for telling the people what they don’t want to know, but need to know if they are to be able to continue living in liberty.

Balkenende, the prime minister of the Netherlands, is probably the example par excellence of a politician without gonads. Before the film’s release, he had been running around like a headless chicken, trying to minimize the expected fall-out from the release of the excellent film.

If the Dutch government had been able, legally, to silence the brave and courageous Geert Wilders, then there is absolutely no doubt that it would have done so.

So where is all this leading to? Well, the answer to this simple question is quite simple: To no good place!

First of all, it should be stated that it is no good talking the talk without walking the walk. Western politicians are very adept at talking up the benefits of democracy and freedom. But to all but the blindest among us, it should be obvious that they are also adept at taking people’s liberty and democracy away from them! They are running scared; and they are hell-bent on avoiding conflict with an enemy – Islam – which is implacable. But there is a word in most languages for this. In English, it is called appeasement. In French, it is called apaisement, in German, Beschwichtigung. Whichever word you use in your language, it amounts to the same thing: Weakness!

It should be obvious to all that the West has not come to this wonderful place without struggle and strife. In each and every age, we will find our enemies and detractors. In the twentieth century, people had to live with the dangers of Nazism, for Hitler was the enemy of the day. But people back then had a backbone, and they had principle, too. And they were willing to fight for those principles; indeed, they were willing to die for them. They were most unlike the current bunch of excuses for statesmen we have leading us today! Think of them: Brown, Verhagen, Balkenende, Bush, ex-prime minister Blair. The list is endless. They are all wimps; they are all cowards, they are all unworthy of leading the free world.

We should all get one thing straight: Islam is not in the West to be equal to any other faith; rather, it is here to become dominant. Muslims will not rest until the laws of the land are supplanted by the laws of the Qur’an, by the so-called Sahri’ah laws that their god – Allah – is supposed to have sent down to them.

Shari’ah law is anathema to all the West stands for. It tolerates no equality between the sexes. It tolerates no rights for homosexuals. It tolerates no diversity of belief; and it certainly doesn’t tolerate disbelief. If Shari’ah gets the upper hands, we shall all be praying in the direction of Makkah, we shall all be Muslims then.

It is time for Westerners to re-assert their commitment to Judeo-Christian culture, to Judeo-Christian civilization, to liberty, democracy and all that our wonderful, superior civilization has given us. It is also high time for the people to stand up and tell their leaders that we will not be silenced.

As Geert Wilders said, the hour is late. There is little time to lose. If we lose this battle, we shall surely be taken back to a ‘New Dark Age’. No kidding!

My Personal Statement

Here's my collection of Fitna Tshirts that I am proud to wear.

Here’s an easy personal project to show your support for Fitna and Geert. I created this reverse image and used Avery Ink Jet Transfer Sheets that I ironed on some pocket T Shirts. I think it is still legal to walk around mocking Islam on a Tshirt, but things....they are a changing.

The first image is the reverse image of Mo with Fitna script below. It is in reverse so that it looks like the finished Tshirt below when ironed on your chosen T shirt. Just enlarge the image then copy that image to your harddisk now.

The second image is the FITNA title imagetext reversed if you want to save the text only image as a ironon image.

All you have to do is create a Word doc with wide margins.

Create a 2x2 TABLE as shown in the photo. Copy the enlarged reversed mo image to your harddrive, then use Word Insert Picture to insert the picture in each cell of the table. Insert in one cell first, then resize it to fill out the cell. Then copy that image into the other 4 cells. Do a printout on regular paper until you get the size and placement of the 4 images perfected.

If you get a ‘outside margins’ warning when you start to print, say “YES” to ignore and continue to print. I did several printouts on regular paper in gray/black print before doing the final color print on the Avery transfer sheet.

You will also want to check size of the printed photo to where you want to put it on the T shirt and make sure it is not too large or too small. I do four to a transfer sheet and sized them so that they fit just perfectly on the pocket of the T shirt. You can do a large print as well, i.e., 1 large image to an Avery transfer sheet, and transfer that on the front or back of your favorite Tshirt.

After printing out the transfer sheet, cut out your image(s). It is best to cutaway all the non printed area except a small border (see photo).

Be sure to print on the white side, not the side that has the Avery blue shaded text.

Then all you have to do is iron it on using the instructions in your AVERY pack and you end up with the Fitna T here.

A pack of 24 sheets of Avery Tshirt transfer sheets is about $10 to $15. Cheap. At 4 to a page, you can produce 96 transfers. I am surprised how crisp and clean the transfers come out on the T’s Pretty neat.

It’s a great conversation starter!

note: The pocket Tshirt I use is from JC Penney, brand Solitude. They have a discreet embroidered palm tree on the pocket and a moderate to heavy cloth. Nice quality. Regularly $20 but often on sale for $12.

The West Should Applaud the Brave Geert Wilders for His Courage to Air the Film, Fitna, Against Great Odds, Pressure and Criticism

Ever since Geert Wilders released Fitna last week, all we have heard from the mainstream media and from politicians is criticism of the Netherlands’ best-known, most courageous, and clearest-thinking public figure.

So many people, spineless ones mainly, have said that Mr Wilders set out to insult the Qur’an and Muslims. What a ridiculous thing to say! Surely, what he set out to do is plain to see: He set out to inform the Dutch (and by extension , other Westerners) that they were in danger of losing their country (ies) to a backward, regressive ‘culture’: Islam. He stated categorically that this was the last chance for the Dutch to do something about the explosive growth of Islam in their country.

Now what is extreme about that? And what is "far-right" about it, as far as that goes? Yet Geert Wilders is almost always portrayed as a "far-right", "extreme" politician by just about all the media. Why? Just because he wants to warn his fellow countrymen of the dangers that lie ahead? Seems like good old-fashioned common sense to me. Patriotism, even!

I have been warning for years of the danger of the explosive growth of Islam in the West. And just in case anyone out there thinks that I entitled my book, The Dawning of a New Dark Age, for reasons of sensationalism, think again! That title was carefully chosen, for I truly believe that we are heading for a "New Dark Age" if our politicians do not stop passing ridiculous laws to mollycoddle Muslims. They need to change course, and quickly.

I have just finished reading Mark Steyn’s book, America Alone. Clearly, he has taken up the theme in my book; since he refers to the coming "New Dark Age" often enough in it. So I am obviously not alone in my judgement that a "New Dark Age" is dawning here in the West.

In the past days, it has come to light that many Muslim countries, that oh-so-Western country Turkey included, are calling for the film Fitna to be banned. Clearly, Muslims don’t want to be confronted by the truth, for obviously they are hurt by it. The truth, as they say, so often does hurt.

So what Muslims now want the West to do is close down freedom of speech and freedom of expression. If we do that, it will be a fast track to a "New Dark Age". It is freedom of expression which so clearly delineates our two worlds: the world of the West and the world of the East. Were our politicians to be so stupid as to contemplate such a move, then they will surely deserve to incur the wrath of the electorates around the Western world!

Like so may others, I waited patiently for the film, Fitna, to be released. We had to wait a long time for it, but it was well-worth the long wait. I had expected the movie to be controversial, and it was. But in actual fact, it wasn’t that controversial at all; on the contrary, I found the film to be rather mild and measured. There was very little in it which most of us haven’t seen before. But it was very cleverly put together, and the choice of music was superb. All in all, Fitna impressed; and it had a message which all Westerners should take the time to ponder, since so many Westerners go about their daily lives, oblivious of the dangers which lie ahead of them.

I take my hat off to Geert Wilders for a number of reasons: First and foremost among them is for his courage in stating the things which almost all other politicians are far too cowardly to state. I also applaud him for his clear thinking, and for his refusal to obfuscate the truth.

The images in the film were, in some ways, shocking; but only to the uninitiated. For people who are familiar with the blogosphere, they were mild indeed. But powerful for all that.

The Dutch government has egg on its face! Those politicians made such a fuss over the impending release of that short film that they showed themselves up to be the wimps they truly are.

Oh, and a point on Islamophobia, something which so many Muslim countries seem to view with increasing alarm…

As I have said before, the term ‘Islamophobia’ is a misnomer, since a phobia is an irrational fear of something. Many people fear Islam; but that fear, alas, is not ‘irrational’. People’s fears are based on solid experience and history. It is an undeniable fact that the intention of Islam is to take over the Western world, and replace our way of governance with the Islamic way. Given the track record of most Muslim countries, it is surely not phobic to fear the exceedingly fast growth of Islam here in the West. On the contrary, actually, it would be irrational not to fear that explosive growth!

Moreover, I should like to say this: If Muslims don’t want their religion to be feared, if they want to be liked and welcomed around the world, they have to change their behaviour. Governments cannot legislate for its people to ‘love’ Islam. Only Muslims can make themselves loved and welcomed; and to bring these changes about, then they need to change their own behaviour. They need to stop their inexorable programme of expansion around the world, they need to free up their peoples, and they need to stop the cruel punishments: the beheadings, the stonings to death, the amputations for theft - the general cruelty which is so obviously part and parcel of their way of life. And they certainly need to put a stop to putting people to death for apostasy.

The expression, "In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful", is found in almost every chapter (Surah) of Al-Qur’an al Kareem. Isn’t it high time that Muslims started to follow the example that Allah has supposedly given them? Isn’t it high time that Muslims started to show the same compassion and mercy that Allah supposedly shows His followers?

In summary, I would say this about Fitna. It was an excellent film, well worth waiting for. It was in no way insulting to Muslims; though I appreciate that many might have been hurt by it. But then, as I have already stated, the truth is usually hard to swallow. Nobody, Muslim or non-Muslim, likes to be confronted by the harsh realities of life. I applaud Geert Wilders for having the courage and bravery to raise issues in the Netherlands (and in the West) which should have been raised long ago. Bravo, Mr Wilders! Bravo!
