A German view of history

A Canadian* blogger named Paul at Celestial Junk claims original authorship of this piece. It's been forwarded and reposted many times around the web, but it's just too well written to pass up. I strongly feel that it deserves to be read by Muslims (and non Muslims) everywhere. I hope you agree.

-Anti Jihadist

Title- "A German View of History"

A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism. "Very few people were true Nazis," he said, "but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories."

We are told again and again by experts and talking heads that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of fifty shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the "silent majority," is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about twenty million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering seventy million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across Southeast Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of twelve million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peace-loving"?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we may miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Rampant antisemitism at Malaysia Today (again)

Malaysian blogger and derring-do RPK has the disturbing habit, when there's nothing else he can think to write about, of resorting to antisemitic columns. The latest example, "Israel behind PDRM’s information management and security system", fairly reeks of it.

To recap RPK's sensationalistic column, apparently two Israeli passport holders are somehow involved in the contractors that the Royal Malaysian Police ('PDRM' in Malay) have hired to revamp their computer systems. Therefore, following the logic of RPK's title, two Israeli passport holders equals official involvement of the entire Israeli government, which in this Islam-besotted part of the world is usually referred to as the "Tel Aviv" slash "Zionist Regime". Anywhere else in the world (at least in the infidel parts of it), hiring a couple of Israelis for one's IT needs is either good business sense or a non-issue. But here in Islam-blighted Malaysia, it's a big deal. Or at least RPK wants it to be.

Unfortunately it gets worse. Many of the comments at the aforementioned RPK column are a tour-de-force of typical, hysterical, Islamic-style anti Jewish rantings and ravings. Read them only if you dare.

Remember that RPK, as a foreign educated, fluent in English, well travelled, wealthy, intellectual, writer, political activist, mover-and-shaker, is about the best that the country of Malaysia has to offer. And he's profoundly antisemitic. But this should not be terribly surprising, as anyone who wants to know Islam should know that Islam is as virulently antisemitic as a bunch of goons in central Europe were some 65 odd years ago.

I Can Marry A Monkey!

Spain is about to give gorillas human rights,eh? So where does that lead? Do you remember "I Married a Monkey" on SNL years ago? Couldn't find a video but very funny. But isn't that the next logical step?

From WIKI for what it's worth:

The I Married A Monkey sketches were created by Tim Kazurinsky to remind the viewing public that the show was indeed live. He essentially played himself, working with the premise that he had married a chimpanzee named Madge in a bizarre soap opera world. There was a real chimp on stage, and some sketches featured their "children" played by baby chimps.

Kazurinsky felt that the show had become too polished, and felt that the idea would offer some unpredictability. He explained in Live From New York, "I did it because I knew something would screw up and people would see that it was live. People would ask me 'When do you tape the show?' No, it's called Saturday Night Live. It's live." He eventually decided to put a stop to the sketches when he realized the dangers chimpanzees posed when they got agitated.

Tracking the influence of Muslims in a society, from 1% to 100%

When Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone:

United States -- Muslim 1.0%
Australia -- Muslim 1.5%
Canada -- Muslim 1.9%
China -- Muslim 1%-2%
Italy -- Muslim 1.5%
Norway -- Muslim 1.8%

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs:

Denmark -- Muslim 2%
Germany -- Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%
Spain -- Muslim 4%
Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population.

They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law.

France -- Muslim 8%
Philippines -- Muslim 5%
Sweden -- Muslim 5%
Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions (Paris -- car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats (Amsterdam -- Mohammed cartoons).

Guyana -- Muslim 10%
India -- Muslim 13.4%
Israel -- Muslim 16%
Kenya -- Muslim 10%
Russia -- Muslim 10-15%

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:

Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare:

Bosnia -- Muslim 40%
Chad -- Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:

Albania -- Muslim 70%
Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4%
Qatar -- Muslim 77.5%
Sudan -- Muslim 70%

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide:

Bangladesh -- Muslim 83%
Egypt -- Muslim 90%
Gaza -- Muslim 98.7%
Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1%
Iran -- Muslim 98%
Iraq -- Muslim 97%
Jordan -- Muslim 92%
Morocco -- Muslim 98.7%
Pakistan -- Muslim 97%
Palestine -- Muslim 99%
Syria -- Muslim 90%
Tajikistan -- Muslim 90%
Turkey -- Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates -- Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of "Dar-es-Salaam" -- the Islamic House of Peace -- there's supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim:

Afghanistan -- Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100%
Somalia -- Muslim 100%
Yemen -- Muslim 99.9%

Of course, that's not the case. To satisfy their blood lust, Muslims then start killing each other for a variety of reasons.

"Before I was nine I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; and the tribe against the world and all of us against the infidel." -- Leon Uris, "The Haj"

It is good to remember that in many, many countries, such as France, the Muslim populations are centered around ghettos based on their ethnicity. Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. Therefore, they exercise more power than their national average would indicate.

Dearest Prime Minister...

Malaysia's Prime Minister aint too popular nowadays. Which may be something of an understatement.

The following was emailed to PI's inbox from one of our Malaysian readers. It is a letter supposedly sent recently to the Malaysian Prime Minister's website. I cannot vouch for the veracity of this information, but the letter is way too entertaining to ignore.

By the way, if you are offended by 'purple' language, I advise you to read no further.

Dearest Prime Minister...,

Since the disastrous March 8 elections, I haven't bothered attacking you much. Well, why should I when the Pakatan Rakyat, Raja Petra and your own Ministers are already doing such a thorough job. And oh, not forgetting all the salivating vultures waiting to push you down the UMNO ladder. There's also the issue of this bloody old mamak who used to be your boss... but that's a different story.

I may scorn at your intelligence (or lack thereof), amaze at the voodoo spell your Son In Law has you under, laugh at the blind arrogance of your Government and shake my head at your cluelessness in private, but as far as this blog is concerned, I took a break from whacking you and all that you stand for.

Well it ends today.

Coz I'm f*ckin'pissed.

Like REALLY motherf*ckin 'F*CK YOU B*STARD' sort of pissed, you backwater retard..!

Today I spent 2 hours caught in a f*ckin' traffic jam coming back from work. As I sat in the f*ckin' snarl watching' the faces of other drivers who looked like they were ready to break stuff, I realised that how every single f*ckin' thing that went wrong today all points at you.

Like a f*ckin' Night Shymalan movie or finale of LOST, everything is related and all dots connect to spell a F*CK YOU BN. Realisation hits me that the f*ckin' 2 hours of my life that I could NEVER get back boils down to one simple f*ckin' fact: The country got it SOOOO f*ckin' wrong in 2004 when they put you as the gaffer of this country.

How, you ask..? Shut the f*ckup and listen.

It rained today. REALLY heavy. As a result, all roads in Kuala Lumpur came to a stand still. Why? Is it because all cars in the capital of Malaysia is made out of paper and will disintegrate in the rain? F*ck, no.

Everything came to a halt because any downpour more than 15 minutes causes "flash floods" in the most traffic-heavy parts of the city. As fast as money disappears under Khir Toyo's administration, water levels will rise whenever it pours in KL. Causing many parts of the big city to become inaccessible. And jammed. Filled with angry motorists and stranded commuters.

We have a SMART Tunnel. Which "supposedly" helps to drain water out during floods. We have public transportation. Which "supposedly" means less vehicles on the road. We have megacriss-crossing highways littered with toll booths. Which “supposedly" provides easy access to different parts of Klang Valley.

But that's all our country is good for. Launching something and letting monkeys run it. NONE OF THOSE F*CKING THINGS WORK PROPERLY. Or at all. Is it so surprising? No. When they f*ckup the basics like having a proper drainage system so that water does not accumulate during heavy rainfall, what more can you expect?

Simply put, heavy rains are beyond our control. How we deal with it is not. Or shouldn't be.

F*ck all the talk about “winning the 5 States back" when you can't even address the problems blowing up in your own backyard one by f*cking one.

So with the f*cking rain causing enough havoc as it is ... then came the f*ckin' announcement that effective from 12am midnight, petrol prices will increase toRM2.70 a litre from RM1.92.

WHAT A F*CKING JOKE. They couldn't have timed it better. Only days ago one of the lackeys from the PM's office gave a press statement saying the prices will increase by August. PM himself said before earlier this year that there won't be a price hike.

But I guess we all know this is the same guy who CONVINCINGLY DECLARED on Tuesday that Parliament won't be dissolved on Wednesday when it actually did came the day.

If he was Pinocchio he could represent Malaysia in pole vaulting in Beijing using his blower only.

So right after the Govt assured us that petrol prices won't go up, it did. And the timing of it. Announcing it will go up tomorrow. It's like a man coming into a building shouting, "HEY GUYS RUN. I HAVE A BOMB AND ITS BLOWING IN A FEW SECONDS".

The announcement, as predicted, sparked a f*ckin frenzy on the roads. Every bloody motor owner drove out all their vehicles to quickly fill up their tanks while it's still pre-hike`price. This caused the laws of the jungle to quickly emerge as lines after f*ckin' lines zig-zagged into jam-packed petrol stations amidst the blaring of horns and cursing of profanities in a multitude of languages.

Snarling, bustling and frenzied traffic from every petrol station overflowed onto highways and unflooded roads already under massive burden of having to carry extra vehicles as a result of other flooded roads which become the link between a tired worker's office to his home.

The result?

A F*CKING ROYAL RUMBLE OF ROAD MADNESS which lasted 2 hours for me when it usually takes me 20-30 mins to reach home from office.

F*CK THE PETROL HIKE.! Unf*ckin believable jam is but the beginning. Inflation is bound to hit hard at everyone's pockets.

Granted the price of oil is escalating globally. Granted the American economy crisis is having some spillover effect to world economics.

But we're a F*CKING PETROL PRODUCING NATION!!! Like Saudi. It's 40cents a litre over there. We're a f*ckin nation that produces motherf*ckin' oil. OIL!! And yet we're saying we can't do anything. Simple economics dictates that if you PRODUCE OIL, and OIL prices go up, you GET BIGGER PROFITS DON'T YOU?!?!

Petronas rakes in billions EVERY f*ckin' year. Yet the government says it can't subsidise us without major cutbacks in other areas like healthcare and sh*t. F*CK YOU ALL. Just cutback on the kickbacks and under counter money and we'll have enough to subsidise petrol to be under RM1 per litre.

This is what happens whenyou take village-like, count-up-to-10-with-fingers fuckers to fill in top postsin the Government and Cabinet. This is what happens when you have a despotic party overstaying its fat stay at the top of the foodchain.

This is a f*ckin' joke I tell ya. First the price of flour. Then cooking oil. Then price of pork. Now petrol.

F*CK YOU, you and you. All of you.

YES BARISAN NASIONAL, UMNO and the ENTIRE Badawi Administration. This is your encore.

UPDATE: Having received a reminder from my coblogger (thanks Mark) on this post, I realised that I forgot my own self-imposed policy on profanity. I have edited the above post in accordance with that policy. Apologies to everyone, especially my co-bloggers, for any offense or inconvenience caused.

Muslim Mindset: 'The hatred is in Muhammad himself'

A month ago I visited Israel, which was my second visit there in 8 months. I not only adore this country but also the people who made Israel what it is. I enjoy talking to people on the street and whenever I get an opportunity to talkto such people, I do.

So while strolling around the old city of Jerusalem several weeks ago, I happened to start speaking to - and this was not really the kind of person I wanted to talk to - a Palestinian Muslim. I'll call him 'Ahmad' (not his real name). Ahmad and his brother own a shop in Jerusalem's old city. After speaking to him for a bit, it seemed that Ahmad was pretty moderate in his opinions. Educated and polite, he was quietly listening to my statements regarding Islam and Israel etc.

I seem to have made some comments that Ahmad's brother overheard, and obviously upset him (the brother) very much. To make a long story short, he started cursing me and the two brothers got angry at each other.

Later that day I met Ahmad once again and he had a message for me. He told me that "I should never ever again talk in such a way to a Muslim unless I am looking for real trouble and want to get hurt." What apparently really upset them was that I suggested that Palestinians leave all Israel and go live among their loving brothers in an Islamic country, and my comment that Mohammad had murdered Jews in Medina because they did not want to convert to Islam and that his wife had been a child.

At first I laughed at him but then I realized that he was serious, that this was a warning. The moderate, educated, polite young man gave me yet more proof that Islam does not only not accept infidels but even moderate ones cannot handle opinions that differ from their own. He probably meant well when he gave me the warning, but what he did not realize was, that this warning only sheds even worse light on Islam.

The article below I found in today's "Jerusalem Post Online" supports and reinforces my feelings.

Muslim Mindset: 'The hatred is in Muhammad himself'

To Westerners and moderate Muslims shocked by the radical form of Islam now topping nightly newscasts, the efforts of liberal-minded Muslims like Tawfik Hamid, Italian Sheikh Abdul Hadi Palazzi and a handful of others may seem like the perfect solution. Not so for Ali Sina, who has a different suggestion: destroy Islam.

Sina, who runs Faith Freedom International - an Internet forum dedicated to debunking Islam - calls himself "probably the biggest anti-Islam person alive." The publication of his latest book, Understanding Muhammad: A Psychobiography of Allah's Prophet, will likely cement that position. In it, Sina suggests that Islam's central figure suffered from a series of mental disorders, including narcissistic personality disorder, temporal lobe epilepsy and obsessive compulsive disorder.

"These disorders," he says via telephone, "can explain the phenomenon known as Islam... which is nothing but one man's insanity."

Sina grew up a non-practicing Muslim. Raised in Iran, educated in Pakistan and Italy and now living in Canada, he began jousting with believers in the 1990s. What bothered him, he tells The Jerusalem Post, was not the penchant for jihad and intolerance that certain fanatical Muslims displayed, but the foundation for such ills in the Koran and core Islamic texts.

(Through the Faith Freedom Web site, Sina lists canonical references to Muhammad's actions and offers $50,000 to anyone who can disprove Sina's charge that Islam's prophet was "a narcissist, a misogynist, a rapist, a pedophile, a lecher, a torturer, a mass murderer, a cult leader, an assassin, a terrorist, a mad man and a looter." Respondents relentlessly attack Sina's motives, but none has won the prize.)

With violent conquest and contempt for non-believers central to the tenets of the faith, Sina argues, attempts to forge a moderate form of Islam are doomed.

"The idea that Islam can be reformed is a fallacy," he scoffs. "It's like saying we can reform Nazism and it will be a wonderful party."

No, says Sina, "The only way to reform Islam is to throw away the Koran; 90 percent of it should be thrown away. You also have to throw away the history of Islam, and you have to completely disregard the Sira" - the Arabic term used for the various traditional Muslim biographies of Muhammad, from which most historical information about his life and the early period of Islam is derived.

For this reason, Sina says, Western suggestions that extremism in Islam can be eradicated if certain imams are quieted, or if Muslims are encouraged to embrace the universalist elements of their faith - but without addressing the extremism inherent in the religion's texts - are based on a mistaken comparison of Islam to Christianity.

"In the West, people ask whether Islam can undergo a reformation like the one that Christianity underwent. That's a poor parallel," he says. "In Christianity, it wasn't the religion that needed to be reformed, but the church; what Jesus preached was good."

On the other hand, Sina continues, "In Islam, it's not the community that is bad, but the religion. Islam has nothing like 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.' Islam is full of hatred, and the hatred is in Muhammad himself. I argue in my book that Muhammad was insane - and that Muslims, by emulating him and by emulating his ways, his insanity is bequeathed to them."

BY NOW, CRITICS of Islam are fairly common in the West. And there are more than a few former Muslims who have rejected Islam in favor of Christianity, citing the difference between their former religion's overwhelming focus on hatred and their newfound faith's central teaching of love and forgiveness. But, like Wafa Sultan, Ibn Warraq, Ayaan Hirsi Ali and the handful of other apostate Muslims demanding that Muslims reject the negative aspects of their religion, Sina's critiques are especially problematic.

"People have to dismiss me some way, they have to put me down in one way or another. I'm a Jew, I'm a Christian, I'm a Hindu. I'm whatever people want to say in order to discredit me," says Sina, who closely guards his true identity because of the death threats he receives. "But they can't ignore my questions."

Sina has little patience for those who believe they can temper Islam with reason and mutual respect, or for those who remain cowed by the masses of Muslim devotees around the world.

"Islam is the biggest hoax, the biggest lie," he says. "Yes, a billion people believe it. But truth is truth. People will eventually see it. Believe me, there is no other answer. We will pay a great price until we realize that this is the solution - to undermine Islam itself, to show Muslims that this religion is not from God, that Muhammad was a charlatan and a liar."

Sina knows that his blunt, outspoken approach can be "problematic." But he is confident nonetheless that the force of his arguments will ultimately prevail.

"I am sure that, with time, I will convince millions and millions of Muslims, and the foundations of Islam will collapse," he says.

Already, he continues, Faith Freedom has attracted an impressive amount of attention.

"In Iran, my site is banned. In many parts of Pakistan, it is banned. The list goes on," he says. "Despite this, I have over 10 million readers in just over two and a half years. And I have received letters from Muslims from all over the world. Muslims everywhere are paying attention. I believe that Muslims everywhere are realizing that something is amiss.

"If I didn't have so much success in convincing people, then I would not be so confident. But I see that truth works. So many people who are now writing for me and putting things up on Youtube; seven or eight years ago, we were having fierce debates. Now, they are my greatest allies. There are many people who have seen the light after reading FFI and many of them are now working on my side, trying to help others to see the truth.

"This is the way to fight evil. I do not want to kill the enemy. I want to win them as friends and allies. That is the real victory. In this way, we win because we eliminate our enemy, and our enemy wins by eliminating his ignorance and hate. That is why I believe in my cause. That is why I think I am an instrument of peace."

The Game Is Up! Saudi Arabia Invited to Invest in British Nuclear Power Stations

THE TELEGRAPH: Gordon Brown has invited oil-rich states like Saudi Arabia to invest in the next generation of British nuclear power stations.

The Prime Minister extended the invitation to OPEC members as part of a deal he will propose at a summit in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Mr Brown said he wants oil producers to allow Western energy firms to invest in their fields, increasing OPEC's extraction and refining capacity.

In exchange, he said, Western oil-consumers led by Britain should open their economies to investment from oil-states' sovereign wealth funds. In particular, he said, sovereign funds should be encouraged to invest in alternative energy sources, including nuclear power.

The government has signalled its willingness to license a new wave of nuclear power reactors in Britain, but there are doubts about the energy industry's appetite for funding new stations. Annoying the Other Side (again)

I like to track incoming traffic to our little site. Sometimes I pick up some interesting links, like this one (safe to click). Apparently, it appears that a number of Malay-speaking jihadists or jihadist sympathizers are annoyed with what we have to say here.

Here's the English ('B.I.') translation:

These are the blogs which insult Islam, must read

I looked at these blogs and I felt so challenged. These people are bluntly insulting Islam. If you guys can spread the news to others ..... These people are wrong about our religion. I don’t know what to do and I am so pissed off where these blogs show Prophet Muhammad's pic together in the blogs. Please go to these blogs ... THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE

The one comment at the site says this:

If you read (those blogs, they) will piss you off

I'm flattered to be getting this kind of response from the followers of the "Religion of Peace". I only wish I could have more such flattery!

Even better, the Malay author has placed this blog in the same league as Robert Spencer's Jihad Watch. Spencer, the author of a number of books on Islam, its founder and the dangers of Jihad in general, is a giant of the counterjihad realm. I am deeply honored to be included in such company.

To all our Malay 'friends' out there, count on PI to keep 'challenging' your death cult for the foreseeable future.

UPDATE: AS of 19 June, it looks like the link in the first part of this post is a dead one. I suppose we can't trust jihadists and their friends to pay their bills, can we? ;)

Korea’s new ‘public enemy number one’

A recent wave of hysteria has swept Korea. Koreans by the tens of thousands are marching in the streets, demanding their government do something to end the peril. What could that horrible danger be?

Cigarettes? Something like 30% to 50% of Korean males smoke. Those lead to cancer that kills thousands of Koreans every year.

North Korean nukes? Lil’ Kim is still dragging his feet on the nuclear disarmament that he promised months ago.

Defective Chinese products? After all, poisonous Chinese-made products sickened and killed people in Central America and house pets in America, among other horrors. And China’s ‘yellow dust’ besmirches the skies above Korean cities on a practically daily basis nowadays, making even more Koreans sick.

Islamic terrorists? Just last year, a group of jihadists in Afghanistan kidnapped a number of Korean humanitarian workers, murdering two of them before accepting a hefty ransom from the Korean government.

The answer is ‘none of the above’. You see, Koreans aren’t at all concerned about any of that. What really ticks them off is…imported beef. Specifically US-grown beef. Here’s the background to this bizarre story.

Way back in April 2008, newly elected South Korean president Lee Myung Bak visited President Bush at Camp David in the US for an official state visit. President Lee, who campaigned in part on a platform of a reinvigorated Korean-US partnership, decided at that time to again permit the import of US beef into South Korea. US beef imports to Korea had been banned for five years following the detection of a single case of mad cow disease in Washington State in 2003.

What a difference eight weeks can make. What began as a small, seemingly safe gesture to placate an important foreign ally has now boiled over into a typhoon that threatens to swamp Lee’s tenuous hold on the ship of state. The so-called beef crisis has caused Lee’s entire cabinet to offer their collective resignation. Massive crowds are more-or-less permanently parked (along with an accompanying ‘beefed up’ force of riot police) in the middle of Seoul’s central business district. Parents, uniformed school children, professionals and blue collar workers, young and old, by the tens of thousands have all gathered under the ‘anti US beef’ banner. The crowds have been swayed by vast amounts of pseudo-science and disinformation on the Korean-language web and in the Korean media, which has made US beef the new public enemy number one.

But there is more to this mass movement than meets the eye. This concocted crisis is not just about mad cow disease in US beef, which has in fact killed no one. Even the World Health Organization (no friend of the US) admits US beef is safe to eat. As an American might say, “where’s the beef?” The beef is not about the beef, not really.

Emotions, hysterical nationalism, leftist opposition to the conservative President Lee, and more than a whiff of anti Americanism have frothed together in a toxic stew in Seoul and other Korean cities in recent weeks. If Koreans were truly worried about public health or living longer, they would be far better off, for instance, wearing seat belts or quitting smoking. But the popular Korean “anti US beef” movement is not about to let a few inconvenient facts get in its way.

The beef crisis has shown the world that, despite the incredible success of Korea’s technology and economy, the presence on the world stage of a Korean UN Secretary General, Koreans can still be very infantile in their outlook. Decades of globalization notwithstanding, at the heart of many Asian countries is a nasty and mean streak of xenophobia. Slick marketing campaigns and catchy slogans like “Korea Sparkling” or “Malaysia Truly Asia” can and do succeed in glossing over this unsavory trait. However, as is happening now, sometimes the less-than-pleasant truth presents itself.

Asian xenophobia also manifests itself in trade barriers which all but forbid substantial foreign investment or ownership within many Asian countries. For South Korea, this is especially ironic, as it owes its economic miracle to this very same international trade. Longstanding Korean claims to ‘special circumstances’ are wearing thin to its foreign trading partners. Koreans are still resisting the notion that free trade works both ways.

Even after the ‘beef crisis’ fades from the headlines, the trade barriers--and a certain degree of hostility to foreigners--will remain here in Korea.

Blogger Arrests Hit Record High

blogger arrests

BBC: More bloggers than ever face arrest for exposing human rights abuses or criticising governments, says a report.

Since 2003, 64 people have been arrested for publishing their views on a blog, says the University of Washington annual report.

In 2007 three times as many people were arrested for blogging about political issues than in 2006, it revealed.

More than half of all the arrests since 2003 have been made in China, Egypt and Iran, said the report.

Jail sentence

Citizens have faced arrest and jail for blogging about many different topics, said the World Information Access (WIA) report.

Arrested bloggers exposed corruption in government, abuse of human rights or suppression of protests. They criticised public policies and took political figures to task.

The report said the rising number of arrests was testament to the "growing" political importance of blogging. It noted that arrests tended to increase during times of "political uncertainty", such as around general elections or during large scale protests.

Jail time followed arrest for many bloggers, said the report, which found that the average prison sentence for blogging was 15 months. The longest sentence found by the WIA was eight years. Blogger Arrests Hit Record High >>> | June 16, 2008

May I Call You Allah?

This is one of the funniest cartoons of Bush I have seen in a long time. On June 10th in Slovenia, in another one of his farewell Europe speeches, Bush declared that Washington is "absolutely convinced that Turkey must join the EU."

Now you know I think Bush is an idiot and completely clueless about Islam and surrounds himself with clueless people like Clueless Condi. We also know that Bush read some Islamic apologist's book on the 'Abrahamic faiths' about a year ago that told him that Islam is a legit faith. He thinks Allah is the god of Christianity. He really does.

After that "let 'em in" speech, this cartoon 'Turks in Europe?' from Langelot (French) has been making the rounds. Hat tip: Gallia Watch.

1st balloon: Turks in Europe? Are you sure my God?
2nd balloon: May I call you Allah?

Manhattan Masjids--The Enemy Within

By special reader request, I am posting the following from Atlas Shrugs.

After reading yesterday's post "Assault at a Brooklyn Mosque" on Atlas Shrugs you might think that Majid al-Taqwa is unique – that Muslims at other mosques in the New York area do not accost Jews and Christians who venture near their establishments – that they do not haul them away for interrogation by Islamists in Ninja suits – that they do not maintain constant security to safeguard against any unwelcome intrusion, let alone a small standing army headed by a convicted felon.

You might believe that what took place last Saturday when an Islamist stormed from the mosque at 1226 Bedford Street to assault a reporter for taking a picture in front of the establishment on a public sidewalk to be an extraordinary occurrence brought on by intentional provocation.

You may be convinced that the majority of the 800,000 Muslims who presently live and worship in New York do not behave in such an aggressive manner and that they welcome kafirs to the 130 mosques that have sprouted up like mushrooms within the five boroughs. You may be convinced that the New York Police DepartmentMosque_ny2_2 neglected to respond to calls from the investigative team for help to be aberrant happenstance – an insignificant gaffe caused by a failure to make the correct connection. You might even believe that the account represents gross exaggeration – yellow journalism that smacks of sheer sensationalism.

But what occurred at the Brooklyn mosque, where "moderate" imam Siraj Wahaj holds forth, takes place at Islamic centers throughout Manhattan.

After leaving Majid al-Taqwa, the team of journalists ventured into the Masjid al-Farooq Mosque at 554 Atlantic Avenue where they were prohibited from entering the building and denied the right to walk past the sentry guards. Moreover, the Islamic watchdogs at the al-Farooq Mosque also forbade the taking of pictures and demanded to know the reason for the visit.

If you fancy that al-Farooq is a place of no consequence, consider these facts: the plan for the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center was hatched here; this Brooklyn mosque housed a cell of al Qaeda and raised over $20 million for bin Laden; it has also been reported that the squalid place serves as an arsenal where members withdraw crates of weapons and boxes of ammunition and haul them to the Calverton Shooting Range on Long Island for practice in guerrilla warfare.

The Scheming to Null the Irish NO Vote Begins

That didn't take long. Let the scheming begin! The people are stupid and must be ignored!

Irish Voters Appear to Reject Treaty on Europe
Published: June 14, 2008

DUBLIN — In a significant setback for efforts to reform Europe’s unwieldy institutions, a senior Irish official said Friday that voters had rejected a revised European Union treaty designed to change the way the bloc governs itself and presents itself to the world.

If that outcome is confirmed in official results, it will mean that the 27-member bloc will be in turmoil, its latest attempt to reform stymied by less than one percent of its population of almost 500 million.

Justice Minister Dermot Ahern declared on television: “It looks like this will be a ‘no’ vote. At the end of the day, for a myriad of reasons, the people have spoken.”

Speaking later on Irish radio he said: “We are in uncharted territory.”

Even though there was no final, official tally, Micheal Martin, the minister of foreign affairs, acknowledged: “Perhaps there is a disconnect between the European institution and its people that we need to reflect on.”

In France, senior officials insisted that, whatever the Irish outcome, other European countries must continue their procedures to approve the treaty.

“The most important thing is that the ratification process must continue in the other countries and then we shall see with the Irish what type of legal arrangement could be found,” Jean-Pierre Jouyet, the French minister for European affairs, told LCI television. He did not specify what form this legal arrangement might take.

“We cannot take a country out of Europe that has been there for 35 years,” Mr. Jouyet added. “But we can find specific means of cooperation.”

The apparent defeat will present France with a major headache as it prepares to take over the rotating presidency of the European Union for six months on July 1.

President Nicolas Sarkozy declined to comment Friday before the official result was announced but said he had agreed with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany to issue a joint statement on the outcome.

Prime Minister Francois Fillon had warned Thursday that a “no” vote would mean the end of the Lisbon Treaty, but still appeared to suggest that an impasse could averted. “We must remain within the framework of the Lisbon treaty,” Mr. Jouyet said.
Andrew Duff, a British member of the European Parliament who supports the treaty and the spokesman on constitutional issues for the Liberal Democrats, described the vote as a “tragedy for Ireland, the E.U. and Europe’s place in the world”.

“The problems the treaty was established to address are still there: effectiveness, democracy and capacity to act,” he said. “If the outcome of this is that we are obliged to struggle on with the existing treaty, then the Irish will have done no favors for themselves or us.”

Mr. Duff added that EU leaders will have to try to assemble a new strategy when they meet for a summit in Brussels next Thursday.

“I think the Irish prime minister, Brian Cowen, will have to explain himself at the summit. If he brings a credible and coherent proposal to extricate the EU from this mess, then he will be listened to. But I suspect he can’t because there isn’t one.”

“I think we are probably going to have to wait for quite a considerable time before political circumstances have improved to the degree necessary to acquire public consent.”

Officials began counting votes Friday after a referendum Thursday on the so-called Lisbon Treaty. The official result was expected late Friday afternoon.

Ireland is the only country in the European Union to put the pact to a referendum. The other member states are approving it through their parliaments and 18 have backed it so far , but European Union rules require unanimous support for the treaty to come into effect.

The apparent defeat followed an emotional campaign that ranged over many topics not directly connected with the treaty.

Those who supported the treaty accused their adversaries of confusing the issue for voters, leading them to make their decisions for reasons other than an assessment of the Lisbon accord.

“It is very regrettable that totally untrue arguments about taxation, abortion, neutrality and even euthanasia have been put before the Irish people,” Mr. Cowen said Thursday.

The Lisbon Treaty is 287 pages long and many voters have complained that it is difficult to understand. It is supposed to make the EU function more efficiently, its supporters say, and would give the European Union its first full-time president and create a new and powerful foreign policy chief. The Irish government and political establishment has been campaigning for a “yes” vote, but a surge of opposition recalled earlier occasions when Irish voters rejected European initiatives.

The Lisbon Treaty emerged after voters in France and the Netherlands rejected a European constitution in 2005.

“The problem is that it’s not a very exciting treaty,” Gail McElroy, a lecturer in political science at Trinity College Dublin said before Thursday’s vote. “Institutional efficiency is very hard to get people excited about.”

Ireland Says NO to EU Fascist Empire

Great news from Ireland today. The Irish people say NO to the Lisbon Treaty. Of course, the EU won't accept this. They will plot and scheme, count on it. We could use some great news like this after our Supreme Court ruled yesterday that jihadists from all over the world have the same rights as American citizens effectively stripping the military of the right to hold military trials for jihadists captured.

All the 'oppressed elitists' are crying today. Cry me a river! I'll go dance in the streets and splash in the puddles of tears of the oppressed elitists whose plan has gone so very, very wrong.

Irish minister says EU vote lost

European leaders say they have no "plan B" if the treaty is rejected
Irish Justice Minister Dermot Ahern says substantial vote tallies across the country show the European Union Lisbon reform treaty has been rejected.

Tallies are not official, but Mr Ahern says it is clear the No vote is ahead in a vast majority of constituencies.

This would scupper the treaty, which must be ratified by all members. Only Ireland has held a public vote on it.

Mr Ahern is the first senior figure from the Irish government to admit that it looked like the treaty had failed.

"It looks like this will be a No vote," Mr Ahern said on live television. "At the end of the day, for a myriad of reasons, the people have spoken."

He said it looked like other EU countries would ratify the treaty, so an Irish No vote would leave the EU in "unchartered waters".

Earlier, Europe Minister Dick Roche had admitted "it is not looking good", after state broadcaster RTE said that the Yes vote was "in difficulty".

The BBC's Jonny Dymond in Dublin says a rejection of the treaty, meant to streamline decision-making in the now expanded EU, could plunge the bloc into crisis.

In Irish polls, tally counters in each constituency watch votes being sorted and make their own count, giving early indications of how a vote is going.

Any Yes campaigner dropping in to the Marlborough Street polling station around midday might think the battle lost

European leaders have said that they have no "plan B" for how to proceed if Ireland's electorate does vote No.

"If the Irish people decide to reject the treaty of Lisbon, naturally, there will be no treaty of Lisbon," French Prime Minister Francois Fillon said on Thursday night.

Declan Ganley of the anti-treaty lobby group Libertas said that if the No vote had indeed triumphed that it was "a great day for Ireland".

"The people of Ireland have shown enormous courage and wisdom in analysing the facts presented to them and making the decision they have," Mr Ganley said.

The No campaign was a broad coalition ranging from Libertas to Sinn Fein, the only party in parliament to oppose the treaty.

Our correspondent says that many voters seem to have voted No for the simple reason that they did not understand the treaty, despite a high-profile campaign led by Prime Minister Brian Cowen, which had the support of most of the country's main parties.

The BBC's Europe editor Mark Mardell on what a No vote would mean
Mr Cowen accused the No camp of "misrepresentation", saying voters had voiced concern about "issues that clearly weren't in the treaty at all", the Irish Times reported.

Turnout is said to have been about 45%. Commentators had predicted that a low turnout figure would suggest a rejection.

The treaty, which is designed to help the EU cope with its expansion into eastern Europe, provides for a streamlining of the European Commission, the removal of the national veto in more policy areas, a new president of the European Council and a strengthened foreign affairs post.

Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, urged all EU states to back the treaty, which is due to come into force on 1 January 2009.

He said the reforms would strengthen the EU to meet global challenges.

Fourteen countries out of the 27 have completed ratification so far.

The Lisbon Treaty replaces a more ambitious draft constitution that was rejected by French and Dutch voters in 2005.

Just over three million Irish voters are registered - in a European Union of 490 million people.

In 2001, Irish voters almost wrecked EU plans to expand eastwards when they rejected the Nice treaty. It was only passed in a much-criticised second vote.

France to Block ChildPorn, Terror and "Hate Sites"

New York reached agreement with Verizon and Time Warner to block childporn sites (determined by the state) this past week. France is going one better and blocking terror and racial hatred sites. This is part of the problem. Unintended consequences. Blocking childporn, who doesn't want that? Terror? of course as long as we agree on what is terror. hate sites? Uh, who gets to define hate and hate sites that deserve to be banned. I am sure the Muslims are ecstatic since they already claim to be a 'race' and those who slam Islam are 'racist.' This is going to be a problem. Slippery slope indeed.

France to block porn, terror, hate websites
June 11, 2008 - 10:54AM

The French state and internet service providers have struck a deal to block sites carrying child pornography or content linked to terrorism or racial hatred, Interior Minister Michel Alliot-Marie announced on Tuesday.

The plan, part of a larger effort to fight cybercriminality, is to go into effect in September when a "black list" will be built up based on input from internet users who signal sites dealing with the offensive material, the minister said.

The announcement comes on the heels of a similar deal in the United States, also announced Tuesday. There, three service providers - Verizon, Sprint and TimeWarner Cable - have agreed with New York state officials to block child pornography sites nationwide.
Alliot-Marie said all service providers in France have agreed to block offending sites but did not name them.

"We can no longer tolerate the sexual exploitation of children in the form of cyber-pedopornography," Alliot-Marie said. "We have come to an agreement: the access to child pornography sites will be blocked in France. Other democracies have done it. France could wait no longer."

Among other countries that have already implemented similar measures include Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Canada and New Zealand.

Under the French plan, internet users, via a platform, will be able to signal inappropriate sites and the state, receiving the complaints in real time, will then decide whether the sites are to go on a so-called black list to be passed on to internet service providers to enforce site blocks.

Sites containing what appear to be blatant crimes will be referred to judicial authorities, the minister said.

As for offending sites hosted in other countries, France will pass on the information via Interpol or Europol, the two police agencies, or seize judicial authorities there, Alliot-Marie said.

She insisted that the plan would not "create a Big Brother of the internet" and pledged her support for the "fundamental liberty that is internet access."

France's upcoming presidency of the European Union will be a chance to coordinate efforts between countries, she said, adding that efforts are often needlessly duplicated and sites shut down in one country often pop up in another.

Are you a liberal, conservative, or a redneck?

Here is a little test that will help you decide.

The answer can be found by posing the following question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.

Suddenly, an Islamic terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes
with you, screams obscenities and "Allahu Akbar!", raises the knife, and charges at

You are carrying a loaded M1911 .45 ACP pistol, and you are an expert shot. You have
mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?

Liberal's Answer :

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
What does the law say about this situation?
Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to
society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was
stabbing me?
Should I call 9-1-1?
Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier,
healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and
try to come to a consensus.

Conservative's Answer:

Redneck's Answer:

Click..... (Sounds of reloading)
Daughter: 'Nice grouping, Daddy!
Were those the Winchester Silver tips or hollow points?! '
Son: 'Can I shoot the next one?!'
Wife: 'You ain't taking that to the taxidermist!!

The Islamic Protection Racket

The Islamic Protection Racket--it’s standard operating procedure for Muslims who live in the West. The process runs something like this:

Step 1: A trivial incident — a cartoon, a video, a book, an interview with a prominent public figure — is inflated into a huge outrage against the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims.
Step 2: During Friday prayers, fire-breathing imams exhort the faithful to “defend the honor of the Prophet”.
Step 3: Muslims in Jordan, Pakistan, Indonesia and elsewhere in Dar al Islam take to the streets, burn infidel flags, and kill a few of each other.
Step 4: Muslim countries institute a boycott against products manufactured by the offending Western nations.
Step 5: Moderate spokesmen for Islamic groups appear on television and offer soothing words about peace and understanding, but… the violence of some of their co-religionists, regrettable though it may be, is understandable and hard to prevent, given the offense to their Islamic sensibilities.
Step 6: Muslim ambassadors pay calls on heads of state and government in the Western countries involved, and insist that the host country needs to do more to understand Islam and promote constructive dialogue.
Step 7: Officials in Western countries offer abject apologies and make concessions to Muslims, which usually involve massive “aid” programs to poor Muslim countries, all-halal menus in school lunchrooms, allowing women to wear burkhas on public transport, etc.
Step 8: Muslim leaders proclaim that Islam is mollified (for the moment), and the world returns to a state of multicultural harmony.
Step 9: Repeat steps 1 through 8 as often as necessary.

The latest victim of the Racket? Norway

Ten MORE reasons why Islam is not the religion of peace

For the first ten reasons, click here.

#1. 10,000 deadly terror attacks committed explicitly in the name of Islam in just the last six years. (Other religions combined for perhaps a dozen or so).

#2. Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, had people killed for insulting him or criticizing his religion. This included women. Muslims are told to emulate the example of Muhammad.

#3. Muhammad said in many places that he has been “ordered by Allah to fight men until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is his messenger.” In the last nine years of his life, he ordered no less than 65 military campaigns to do exactly that.

Muhammad inspired his men to war with the basest of motives, using captured loot, sex and a gluttonous paradise as incentives. He beheaded captives, enslaved children and raped women captured in battle. Again, Muslims are told to emulate the example of Muhammad.

#4. After Muhammad died, the people who lived with him, and knew his religion best, immediately fell into war with each other.

Muhammad’s favorite daughter, Fatima, and her husband, Ali (the second convert to Islam, who was raised like a son to Muhammad) fought a war against an army raised by Aisha, Muhammad’s favorite wife - and one whom he had said was the “perfect woman.”

Not only was her husband, Ali, eventually murdered, but Fatima (who survived the early years at Mecca safe and sound) died of stress from the persecution of fellow Muslims only three months after her father died.

Three of the first four Muslim rulers (caliphs) were murdered. All of them were among Muhammad’s closest companions. The third caliph was killed by the son of the first. The fourth caliph was killed by the fifth, who subsequently poisoned one of Muhammad’s two favorite grandsons. Muhammad’s other grandson was later beheaded by the sixth caliph.

Within 50 years, the Kaaba, which had stood for centuries under pagan religion, lay in ruins from internal Muslim war.

#5. Muhammad directed Muslims to wage war on other religions and bring them under submission to Islam. Within the first few decades following his death, his Arabian companions invaded and conquered Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist and Zoroastrian lands.

#6. Muslims continued their Jihad against other religions for 1400 years, checked only by the ability of non-Muslims to defend themselves. To this day, not a week goes by that Islamic fundamentalists do not attempt to kill Christians, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists explicitly in the name of Allah.

None of these other religions are at war with each other.

#7. Islam is the only religion that has to retain its membership by threatening to kill anyone who leaves. This is according to the example set by Muhammad.

#8. Islam teaches that non-Muslims are less than fully human. Muhammad said that Muslims can be put to death for murder, but that a Muslim could never be put to death for killing a non-Muslim.

#9. The Qur’an never once speaks of Allah’s love for non-Muslims, but it speaks of Allah’s cruelty toward and hatred of non-Muslims more than 500 times.

#10 . “Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!” (The last words from the cockpit of Flight 93)
