Men of Custard

”Man is born free, but is everywhere in chains.” – Jean Jacques Rousseau, The Social Contract, French political philosopher (1712 - 1778)

Politicians today are craven! They do NOT deserve our respect!

Politicians, at least in the United Kingdom, are career politicians who only rarely have pursued other careers before entering Parliament.

In years gone by, this was very different: Men, and I mean men, used to go into politics when they had achieved a great deal in the real world, and when they felt that they had enough money to spend the rest of their working lives in the pursuit of improving the lot of the people. They were beholden unto no one, because they had made their money before entering politics, and were thus prepared to work for a relatively modest remuneration in order to try and improve the lot of the masses. Because they were men of independent means, they could speak their minds.

What we have today is but a mere pathetic shadow of the politicians of yore. What we have today are ‘company men’, party men, if you will. They toe the party line; and are terrified of losing their positions. How many politicians have you heard of recently who have been prepared to resign on a point of principle? Few, I would wager.

We, at least in the UK, are all the poorer for this sad development. It means that our politicians are far more concerned about their next pay packet than they are about the real concerns of politics.

Recent events have shown us, and very, very clearly, that our politicians are craven, unprincipled, and weak. Weak beyond measure!

The Houses of Parliament are peopled not only by men, but they are peopled by women also. To a great extent, British politics has become feminized. Bringing women into the political arena is, in many ways, a great thing; but it can only be a great thing if the women coming into politics can take the tough decisions necessary to ensure that our Judeo-Christian civilization can survive and thrive. Of late, this has clearly NOT been happening. On the contrary, our Judeo-Christian civilization, a civilization which has given us so, so much, has been dangerously weakened.

Just observe what has been happening in the United Kingdom! Just observe the pathetically weak and craven way that this NuLabour government has dealt with the threat that Islam has posed this nation! The ministers and politicians, all of whom are running scared, have placated these Muslims, even to the point of banning Geert Wilders from entering the country to show his film, Fitna, in the House of Lords.

It is abhorrent, to say nothing of being craven, to say nothing of being unworthy, to have banned this courageous man from this country. The decision was as disgusting as it was undemocratic. We in the United Kingdom were raised to expect our freedom of speech, we were raised to expect liberty. Yet, what has this awful government given us? Nothing but surrender to the forces of evil, surrender to the forces of darkness, surrender to the Jihad being waged against us. How can our politicians expect us willingly to embrace Muslims when we can see so plainly – it is as plain as the nose on your face – that Muslims are the cause of our loss of freedoms? How can this bring harmony in the community? Of course, it cannot!

The war on Islamic terror over the past years has been fought by politicians hell-bent on taking away the freedoms of the innocent people upon whom the ‘war on terror’ has been waged – the victims. Instead of targeting the perpetrators of the crimes, our ‘leaders’ have chosen to bring hurt upon the innocent. Why? Because they lack the courage necessary to punish the people who are perpetrating the crimes. Why? Because they know that if they were to punish the perpetrators of the crimes, they would meet with fierce opposition, whilst they know that by punishing the innocent, they will meet with nothing but meek and mild opposition, if indeed they meet with opposition at all.

Our so-called leaders, craven leaders almost all, decided that the ‘war on terror’ would be waged by taking your freedoms away, and mine. They decided that they would take our freedom away to criticize religion in general, and Islam in particular. (Oh, for the love of Allah, don’t criticize Islam!) As a result of this, and other stupidities, we now find ourselves with our hands tied firmly behind our backs, we find ourselves with a pitifully weakened voice. That’s how stupid and craven the politicians are that now lead us.

But can I tell you this: It is our birthright to be able to criticize Islam; it is our birthright to be able to criticize the Prophet Muhammad.

This is why it is IMPERATIVE that we be given an ‘international first amendment’, which Geert Wilders has called for, and which the International Free Press Society has called for, too. No constitution that the EU will write will be worth a damn if there is within it no ‘first amendment’. The people need to be free to speak their minds; they need to be free to criticize religion, any religion, and they need to be free to criticize any prophets considered to be – at least by some – the expounders of those faiths. No prophet, no god, must be above criticism, for any god worthy of being worshipped will accept such criticism. A god which cannot accept such criticism, a prophet who cannot accept such criticism, cannot be worthy of being worshipped at all! NO religion worthy of its salt is above criticism!

But our politicians are weak and craven and lacking in spunk: they cannot find it within themselves to criticize those who perpetrate crimes in the name of their pathetic religions, still less to criticize the religions themselves.

This is why our politicians are not worthy of being followed. This is why our politicians are not worthy of the title of ‘leaders’. This is why there is need of change at the top, this is why we are in need of change in the establishment.

We need leaders of spunk, but all I see around me are leaders of custard!

Sharia Law: Tearing the West in Two

CBNNEWS.COM: Sharia, or Islamic law, is gradually working its way into public life in Islamic and non-Islamic nations around the world.

What is it and what does sharia mean for Christians and others forced to abide by it?

"Sharia law is a legal system on the teachings of the Qur'an, the Sunna and the Hadith of Mohammed applied into the community as the legal basis for life," Jeff Hammond, with Bless Indonesia, said.

Hammond is a Christian who has lived and worked in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, for 35 years. He says Indonesian Christians are concerned about creeping sharia law, now in place in half of the country's 32 provinces.

"It's going from one province to another, it's not something that's happening all at once, but step by step," Hammond said.

Cruel and Usual Punishment

For example: even Christian school girls are forced to cover their heads in Padang province. Elsewhere in Indonesia, children attending public schools are required to learn the Qur'an.

In Indonesia's Bandeh Aceh province, shariah police make nightly patrols to ensure that unmarried or non-related couples are not seen together in public.

"Christians are very concerned, not only because of what is happening here in Indonesia, they also see reports that are coming from other countries," Hammond explained.

In Islamic nations like Somalia, devotion to Sharia law caused vigilantes to behead a 25-year old aid worker for converting from Islam to Christianity.

In Iran, women are legally stoned to death for committing adultery.

In Afghanistan, prostitutes are executed for their behavior.

In Pakistan, the government apparently has accepted the imposition of sharia law in the Taliban controlled Swatt Valley of the northwest frontier province. It's a place where violators of sharia are often subjected to lashes.

Enforcement of Pakistan's blasphemy laws have led to the imprisonment of Christians, like 20-year old Sandal Bibi and her father Gul Sheer on charges of blasphemy against the Qur'an. Ripping the West in Two >>> By Gary Lane, CBN News Reporter | Thursday, February 19, 2009

A Malaysian-style Valentine's Day

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Authorities in Malaysia arrested 26 unmarried Muslim couples in hotel rooms during Operation Valentine -- aimed at curbing illegal premarital sex in this conservative country, an officer said Monday.

The couples, most under 30 years old, were detained for sharing rooms early Sunday in the beachside town of Kuantan in eastern Pahang state, said Badaruddin Ahmad Bustami, enforcement assistant director with the state's Islamic department.

State authorities carry out raids each year on Valentine's Day in this Muslim-majority country, where sharia laws make it illegal for unmarried Muslims to meet behind closed doors, Badaruddin said. Doing so constitutes a crime known as "khalwat," or "close proximity," which carries a maximum fine of 1,000 ringgit (US$280) and up to six months in prison.

The sharia laws apply only to Malaysia's Muslims, not to Christian and Hindu citizens who together make up about 40 percent of the population.
Badaruddin said the couples were released but may be charged later with khalwat.

"We don't agree with Muslim couples celebrating Valentine's Day because it's not Malay culture," he said.

Government for sale in Malaysia

Malaysia has recently convulsed itself through another shocking political scandal. For non Malaysians, or for those not familiar with the situation, it seems that one of the state governments captured in last year's national elections by the opposition coalition PKR was recently 'flipped' back to the ruling party's control. Voila! And the deed was done, with no messy elections required.

The Malaysian state where this all occurred is Perak, a name which in English ironically enough means 'silver'. I say it's ironic when one considers that almost certainly that quite a lot of silver changed hands to give that state's government back to the National Front (i.e. Barisan Nasional or BN, meaning UMNO), the party that has long (50+ years) dominated Malaysian politics.

In events that are still mysterious, in the days and weeks before the scandal broke, it seems a small number of key legislators, all of whom were nominal members of the PKR opposition coalition, were 'persuaded' via murky means to switch their political allegiance to BN/UMNO. PKR's majority was so slim in the state parliament that it only required four legislators to cross the aisle. Once that Rubicon was crossed, the Sultan of Perak (i.e. the 'King' of the state) promptly dissolved PKR's parliament and had the state's governor ('Menteri Besar', a PKR guy) physically removed from the Governor's sumptuous residence. A BN lackey immediately took over that post.

PKR is swearing that they will redress the matter in the courts. But since Malaysia's legal and court system was created by BN and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BN, you can imagine just how effective PKR's lawsuit-to-be is going to work out for them.

This goes to show you that while politics is politics no matter where you go, in Malaysia that particular swamp is so deep, it is well nigh impossible to drain. There is a political environment where politicians are in essence for hire to the highest bidder, available to anyone for the right price, for the highest price the market can bear. This ethical depravity is a reflection of the moral environment and of the culture of the country. And in Malaysia, a major component of that culture is Islam.

People constantly wonder why Muslim countries continue to be morally bankrupt, backward and retrograde in all the ways that matter (economic, political, technological, etc.). Why is the idea of 'clean government' an alien, unfathomable idea to Muslim societies, an idea impossible to implement, realise or carry out?

Once one studies Islam, the answer to that vexing question becomes clear. Islam has no overarching moral or ethical code, nothing beyond 'might makes right' or 'whatever is best for Muslims is ethical' or 'whatever Mo the messenger/warlord/paedophile did is moral'. There is certainly no Golden Rule or anything remotely resembling universal values.

So it's no wonder corruption like this is passed from one generation or even from one party to the next, no matter what is supposedly done to stop it.

Rights group says UN should rebuke Malaysia

ED- But don't hold your breath waiting for the clueless, toothless, and useless UN to do anything. And even if they did, what could they possibly do about it? Issue another sternly worded resolution? (H/T to S. for bringing this to my attention)

Rights group says UN should rebuke Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: A global human rights group urged U.N. member countries Tuesday to rebuke Malaysia for allegedly imprisoning dissidents and mistreating migrants.

Human Rights Watch said in a statement the U.N.'s Human Rights Council should take a "long, hard look" at Malaysia's rights record at its review in Geneva on Wednesday. It will be Malaysia's first review by the council, which evaluates member countries every four years.

"Countries should call Malaysia to account for failing to address abuses against migrants and refugees and for its continuing use of preventative detention," the group's deputy Asia director, Elaine Pearson, said.

The group said U.N. members should challenge Malaysia to repeal the decades-old Internal Security Act, which allows the government to indefinitely detain those deemed a threat to national security without trial.

More than 45 people — most of them terror suspects but also five ethnic Indian activists — are still held under the act. Last year, an opposition lawmaker, a blogger and a journalist were also briefly detained under the law.

More info on Malaysia' atrocious human rights record can be found here and here.

Is Western 'Imperialism' to blame?

A friend of mine asked me recently if 'Western Imperialism' was to blame for the myriad number of problems facing the Muslim world. Here's my reply:

We've all heard the "Western Imperialism" canard being used many times by so-called 'experts'. Nineteenth century Western imperialism is supposed to account for twenty-first century Muslim nations being the most economically backward and inept ones on the planet. Muslims have always blamed the machinations of infidels for the Muslims' relative backwardness (economic, technological, political, cultural. etc.) and 'Western Colonization" is just one of the labels they use.

The West may have been guilty of the sin of 'colonization' at one time, but that was many decades ago. A century or more has passed since that era and this excuse is getting tired and worn-out. When it is trotted out yet again by Muslims or leftist/dhimmi intellectuals to explain another shortcoming or appalling aspect of the Muslim world, it is much less convincing than it used to be. Even the Muslims know this, though most are loathe to admit it publically. The Muslims are the authors of their own misfortunes.

Paranoia, lies and incompetence--what's not to like about Islam?

Forest Fire Jihad in Australia?

In September 2008, a Muslim/Jihadist group urged that a 'bush fire jihad' be waged against Australia.

Five months on, deliberately set fires in Australia are wrecking havoc, causing unprecedented amounts of property damage and have killed, so far, over 170 people. Coincidence?

It's possible that the Jihadists may end up claiming credit for something that they actually have nothing to do with, the same way Al-Qaeda claimed credit for the massive US East Coast blackout a few years ago, in order to "strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah" (Qur'an 8:60).

Or perhaps one of Allah's 'noble warriors' actually did the deed and committed yet another act of mass murder in the name of his 'faith'.

With the police investigations only just starting, we may yet find out. Stay tuned.

Obama Is Setting Himself and the West Up for Complete Failure!

All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure. – Mark Twain, Letter to Mrs Foote, Dec. 2, 1887

The West faces two great challenges today: The survival of capitalism, an economic system which has brought prosperity to the masses; and the survival of Judeo-Christianity, a religious system which has brought civilization to us all. Without both, we would be very much more impoverished today, and we probably would still be living in a state of benightedness. Alas, because of recent failures in the economic system, our commitment to capitalism is appearing weak and shaky, and because of the Jihad being waged against a weakened West, our commitment to Judeo-Christianity is appearing weak and shaky, too.

We need to renew our commitment to both the economic system and to the underpinnings of our civilization, but to do that, we need good, strong leadership, and leadership from people who are equally committed to both capitalism and Judeo-Christianity. Sadly, such commitment is nowhere to be found.

In order to surmount these two great challenges we are now facing, we need crystal clear thinking and total commitment to the purpose. To-date, there is evidence of neither crystal clear thinking nor commitment to the civilization which is the keystone of our freedoms and way of life.

President Obama was swept to power in the belief that his administration would usher in a new dawn. He came to power on a promise of hope and change, though before the election, he omitted to explain to the electors what that “hope” stood for, and what that “change” would mean for Americans and for the world.

Obama’s confidence was so great that he promised us all that after his administration, the world would be a very different place. The “audacity of hope” indeed. One could also add the audacity of an upstart!

We all know that Obama wishes to stimulate the American economy by spend, spend, spending. The stimulus package worth $825bn shows Obama’s commitment to spending other people’s money: Taxpayers’ money! For as we all know, governments do not have any money; they have only other people’s.

This stimulus package is being hailed as some kind of stroke of Obama genius, whereas, in actual fact, it is old hat. He is only proposing what socialists have proposed down over the ages: To tax and spend. The only thing that is possibly new about Obama’s proposal is the scale of the stimulus package.

Spending money on roads and other infrastructure is all well and good, and doubtless there are many areas in America which need road-renewal programmes, and badly; but such spending will take a very long time to have an effect on the American economy. The lead-in times are going to be long; these projects are not going to have the immediate effects that Obama will surely be hoping for.

Further, spending public money on this vast scale is a sure recipe for corruption. Contractors, and many others, will be able to dip their hands into the overflowing pots of gold, and help themselves. If Obama thinks he can develop a system that will prevent this from happening, then he is naïver than even I thought.

Then there is the problem which spending public money on such a grand scale will bring with it: It will bring impoverishment to future generations, since future generations will be burdened with the massive debt which today’s generation is in the process of getting itself into.

Government intervention is now the order of the day, and on both sides of the Atlantic. But for government intervention, you can read socialism. For that is the path we are now going down. Wherever and whenever governments get involved in private businesses and corporations, their intervention and the ensuing government regulations end up crippling business communities and stifling initiative.

There is no doubt that we have got into this dire economic situation because of greed; and that greed was born in the complete and utter deregulation of the Reagan and Thatcher years. But what they did was not wrong at all, for their policies proved to be vote-winning, and they led to prosperity. The problems arose not because of the Reaganite and Thatcherite policies themselves, but because they were allowed, over the years long after both leaders had left power, to go on and on, unchecked.

So now, instead of following Friedmanite principles, principles which have been proved to work, we are in the process of throwing out capitalist principles: We are throwing the baby out with the bathwater, so to speak. And, as a consequence, we are being taken down the socialist route, taken down the road which leads to higher and higher taxes, increasing government interference, and stifled initiative. It is a road which leads to no paradise! Of that, be sure!

Of course, the excesses of many, especially bankers and their ilk, need to be curbed. It makes absolutely no sense to allow such people to keep paying themselves vulgar and enormous bonuses, especially when many others are experiencing difficulty in feeding their families. But that is an argument for strong government to put a stop to the worst excesses of the capitalist system; it is not an argument for abandoning the system altogether.

We need to reaffirm our commitment to the system by making it possible for people to start up businesses. This can be done with substantial tax breaks and, where necessary, government loans, subsidies, and grants. Unburden the people of their onerous taxation! Set the people free! Let them work and keep the fruits of their labours! Encourage manufacturing! Encourage initiative! Bring out the best in America!

In my judgement, the way Obama is going about correcting the economy, when Obama will no longer be the president of the USA, others will be left to pick up the pieces and pay the high taxes which he will surely introduce, since there is no other way to finance such an ambitious stimulus package. In short, President Obama shows no commitment to capitalism; on the contrary, his way of government is based on the socialist model.

But what is equally worrying, perhaps more worrying still, is Obama’s lack of commitment to Judeo-Christian civilization. In matters of faith, his vision is blurred to say the least. This is probably due to the nature of his family background. >>> ©Mark Alexander | Friday, February 6, 2009

Will Malays wake up?

Another Malaysian blogger recently asked me if Malays would ever 'wake up', i.e. become more enlightened, tolerant, and dare I say, 'westernized'. This is my reply:

Malays wake up? You mean to become 'enlightened Muslims'? There is no such thing. When the Quran is held up and taught to be the perfect document, the will of 'Allah', the best 'deen' on Earth, why look to others or elsewhere for any sort of knowledge or enlightenment? In the minds of Muslims, Muslims are themselves the 'enlightened' ones. Muslims are taught to close themselves off from the evil influences of non believers, to not 'ape the kuffar'. Everyone that's not 'enlightened enough' to follow Mohammed and Allah is a polytheist, a kuffar--'others' who are not the equal of Believers. In Islam, a 'kuffar' is exactly filth. That's why beating Indians to death in Malaysian police stations happens all the time and elicits little to no official condemnation. Who cares if someone steps on a cockroach?

Even if something very bad did happen to Malays, the Muslims will (as usual) blame it all on evil infidels. Remember, the 2004 tsunami was blamed on the US Military by many Muslims, and some media outlets picked up on this utterly ridiculous 'theory'. But Muslims are very prone to believing such nonsense. And the recent outrages in Mumbai have been blamed (by Muslims) on the Mossad, India, Hindus, etc, despite the very clear evidence that puts the plot's origins (and the origins of those who carried out those crimes) in Pakistan. Just as 9-11 was blamed by the same brilliant minds as a plot to 'discredit Islam'. When you belong to a movement that warps reality (and) practices an unbelievable amount of self-deception, then the real world is not going to teach you anything. Is it?

Also, Muslims in response to tragedy often blame themselves for not being 'Islamic' enough. More devotion, be ever more pious. When Muslims do this, as I've said before, it's almost always bad news for any kuffar in the vicinity. And bad news for the Muslims themselves, although they are loathe to admit it.

New Report about Islamism in Sweden

STOCKHOLM NEWS: A new study from Center for Asymmetric Threat Studies (CATS) states that radical Islam is a reality and a threat to some people in the area Rosengård in Malmö.

The study shows that a group of individuals with an extreme interpretation of Islam have a big impact on the local community. Some individuals harass woman who do not want to wear veil and sometimes prevent boys and girls in the neighborhood to play with each other. They also stop girls from participating on stage at local cultural days. Social workers who have tried to distribute information about women’s rights have also been threatened and harassed.
Another conclusion in the report is that many new families in Rosengård get visits from radical groups who tell them “about the rules in Rosengård”. Some families have said to the respondents that they were freer in their former country than they are now. >>> Tommie Ullman | Friday, January 30, 2009

Synagogue Desecrated in Venezuela

Watch silent video: Cameras capture the extent of the damage to the ransacked synagogue in Venezuela >>>

BBC: An armed gang has ransacked the oldest Jewish synagogue in the Venezuelan capital Caracas after occupying the building for several hours.

About 15 unidentified men broke into the building before daubing graffiti on the walls and desecrating scriptures.

They also called for Jewish people to be expelled from the country.

Jewish leaders say tensions have risen since Venezuela broke diplomatic relations with Israel this month over its recent military offensive in Gaza.

Elias Farache, president of Venezuela's Jewish Association, said the gang had tied and gagged security guards before destroying offices and the place where holy books were kept.

Anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli slogans were painted on the walls.

"Never in the history of Venezuela's Jewish community have we been the target of such an aggression," said Mr Farache.

"The climate is very tense. We feel threatened, intimidated, attacked." >>> | Sunday, February 1, 2009
